The Government is finalizing the details of its plan to launder the "mattress dollars."

The Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace) is seeking to move some of the more than US$200 billion that people allegedly have in safe deposit boxes.
In the coming days, Javier Milei's government will embark on an unprecedented venture to try to convince millions of Argentines that they can safely use the dollars they, in many cases, have been saving for decades.
The government is moving forward with the " cultural battle ," now trying to demonstrate that those who keep their dollars out of the reach of the Treasury are not tax evaders, but "heroes." And it will do so by decree, to prevent the opposition from trying to block it in Congress. The "total amnesty" is expected to be implemented in no more than two weeks .
The government expects to collect at least US$2 billion in taxes this year thanks to the measure, meaning it aims to launder some US$10 billion between now and December.

The Minister of Economy explained that the underlying objective is to enable the use of undeclared dollars for specific purchases: " That they be used without explanation."
Milei points out that if these currencies are returned to the system, it could be a " huge injection to trigger an investment boom ," and help the country accelerate its growth process.
